The Internet Chaburah was founded in 1996 by my Chavrusa Dr. Ron Samet.
At the time Dr. Samet expressed concern about losing contact with the many friends we had who
were studying together (at that time) at New York's prestegious Yeshiva University.
Ron expressed his desire to continue to keep in touch and also to continue to study Torah
together and thus the Internet Chaburah was born. It tends to consist of 2 parts from week to week.
The prologue is often a philosophical or ethical issue generated from the week's Parsha
while the actual Chaburah usually deals with an interesting section of Jewish law
(we aim to be contemporary) related to that week's Torah portion.
Since its inception, the Internet Chaburah has exceeded even our wildest expectations.
We tend to meet people worldwide who receive the Chaburah and really enjoy it.
This is a wonderful tribute to the initiative of my dear friend Dr. Samet, to my Shuls
(previously, Young Israel of Jamaica Estates and Fifth Avenue Synagogue and of course,
the wonderful people here at AI) and of course to the world-wide Jewish population including
people such as yourself who are dedicated to the Study of Torah.
